| A certificate from any one of the Technical Institutes in Guyana or Critchlow Labour College or Institute of Distance and Continuing Education or Adult Education. |
| Three (3) passes at the GCE "A" Level (at least grade C) or the CAPE (at least grade III), one of which must be Biology |
| An Ordinary Diploma in Science (Biology Option) with a pass with credit from a Government Technical Institute; |
| A minimum of five (5) subjects of CSEC General Proficiency (at least Grade III) or GCE "O" level (at least Grade C). These subject offerings must include, English Language, Mathematics, Biology (or Human & Social Biology) and one (1) other science subject. (Note: Agricultural Science and Food & Nutrition are not accepted as science subjects); |
| A Diploma in Agriculture (achieved with Credit or above) from the Guyana School of Agriculture; |
| A Diploma or Associate degree from the University of Guyana; |
| An Ordinary Diploma in Science (Biology Option) with a pass, in addition to a minimum of three (3) passes at CSEC (or equivalent), which must include Mathematics and a Science subject. (Note: Agricultural Science and Food & Nutrition are not accepted as Science subjects in FNS); |
| A Trained Teacher's Certificate with a specialization in Science and a minimum of three (3) passes at CSEC or equivalent which must include Mathematics and a Science subject. (Note: Agricultural Science and Food & Nutrition are not accepted as science subjects in FNS); |
| Mature applicant (21 years and over) who has evidence of adequate exposure to Biology and/or Integrated Science, together with a pass at the University of Guyana Entrance Examination (UGEE); |
| Any qualification considered by the University to be equivalent to any of the above. |
